home is where the heart is..
I recently had the privilege of photographing this beautiful family in their London home. I had already visited them a few years ago to photograph their first born, now the proud big brother in these images.
There is something I love the most about in home shoots, that studios will never have.. And that is 'Home is where the heart is'. This old saying I never really understood before having my own children.. A home becomes even more special when you have a baby. The emotional rollercoaster and adventure you go on through pregnancy and beyond, is really hard to put into words..
A sense of loving atmosphere and new beginnings, the softly spoken voices around your newborn, the cards and gifts placed on the side from loved ones... There shouldn't be anywhere else you would want to be...And why would you, your safe haven after giving birth, your retreat, your santuary; and that's why inhome sessions are one of my favourite kind of photoshoots.
Im also often asked if a families home is ideal or not fit for purpose and my answer is always the same, as long as you have a window with some ample natural light, then I will be able to capture your family just fine. I am not visiting to photograph your home, although always suggest moving anything you don't want photographed out the way to avoid any distractions on your images... My style is very minimal and do a lot of close ups of your newborn, capture the connection of you and your family, just as you are. I gently guide you into a position and all I want you to do is be present in the moment with your newborn. If he / she needs changing or feeding, or your eldest wants to run off for some quiet time, I run a very much child led shoot... It's your photoshoot and I want the very best relaxed versions of you all.... And I promise you won't regret it...
