Styling for a shoot

Deciding what to wear to a photoshoot can be stressful. The clothes you wear on the day can dramatically impact the overall look and feel of your photos. So I thought it would be handy to give you some tips and guidance on choosing the perfect outfit.

Timeless

A great family portrait will stay with you for many years, so its best to choose clothing that will stand the test of time. A simple, classic outfit tends to be the choice as this doesn't date, but equally its important that your personality shines through.

Muted colour palette

Mix colours that coordinate each other, but maybe not the same.

Neutral tones work well, these could be black, white, grey, brown and beige.

A helpful tip would be to choose a base colour that is neutral, and then introduce a contrast by wearing denim, warm or cool toned colours.

Branding & Logos

My style is to capture natural expressions and authentic reactions of loved ones.

Text and logos on clothing can be quite distracting, taking centre stage in your images.. Plain or simple patterned clothing works best.

Comfort

Having a photoshoot is an investment, so it is important that you are comfortable and happy as this will show in the final images.

These ideas are just a helpful guide, don't overthink it and let your family's personality shine through. Look forward to meeting you. Louise :)
